Leslie's Success Story!

Leslie had been searching for her dream horse for years.. And this is her success story, in her own words. Cut and pasted from an email I received on 2.2.09

I did alot of looking on the internet and talked to so many different people to find the perfect horse for me.... Saturday, my sister and I went out all over looking at horses and one of the people I had been trying to reach called me while I was looking at another horse and told me that if I was really interested, to come over and take a look at his horse and if I liked her I could have her if I made him an offer on one of the saddles he had for sale. I went there right away and fell in love!

Gypsy is a 14 year old gorgeous quarterhorse mare, the owners had her for 6 years but she has not been under a saddle in at least 3 years so I was a little apprehensive, we took her home, cleaned up the horriblly matted mane and tail, bathed her, brushed her, talked to her, gave her treats and loved on her for the whole rest of the day.

Sunday we went back to be with her, she did really great following me around the property, walking around the arena, stopping, backing up, stopping, whatever I asked of her. (She is a little shy about her face being touched but I know over time she I will gain her trust.)

Well... my very brave sister decided to take her for a ride, she was a little spooky geting saddled up but was ok, my sisiter climbed up slowly onto her back and she became a wild bucking bronco!!! I thought to myself, Oh no! What have I done? I'm happy to report that my sister, being the hero of the day managed to stay on and got her settled down and I was able ro ride her!!! Yay!!! I don't regret anything at all! She was afraid, that's all. I love her so much and am so happy that God matched us up together... (It was Him) Tomorrow her terribly overgrown, cracked up hooves will be filed and shoed and the love story continues.

I can't imagine where she would have ended up if we hadn't found her... I just want to encourage people to take a chance, give them a chance! It's so worth it. I have years of joy to look forward to with her and someday my daughter will be her mommy and love her and spoil her just like me.

Thank you Melissa for all your help, keep up the good work, we'll be praying for you all there... Leslie M.

Together Leslie and Gypsy look forward to a long and happy life together. Bravo for Leslie for taking a chance on Gypsy! -Melissa V- Country Girl Horse Rescues Founder.
